“The extreme naiveté of Christians comes through when they confidently assert that their higher Power is Jesus Christ. Since when did Jesus align Himself with false gods? Since when has He been willing to join the Pantheon or the array of Hindu deities? Jesus is not an option of one among many. He is the Only Son, the Only Savior, and the Only Way. All Twelve Step programs violate the declarations of the Reformation: Only Scripture; Only Christ; Only Grace; Only Faith; and Glory to God Only. Instead they offer another power, another gospel, another savior, another source, another fellowship, another tradition, another evangelism, and another god. Jesus’ majesty and His very person are violated by joining Him together with the gods of the wide gate and the broad way. Jesus emphatically stated that His gate is strait and His way is narrow. He is the only way to life, while all other ways lead to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14),” write Martin and Deidre Bobgan.

I have been around 12 step based recovery for over 15 years.
I must say; It absolutely does not work!
And, I have never seen even one person follow Jesus after an AA immersion, ever.
According to: R. K. Hester & W.R. Miller in -What works-

Anyone want to boast about the facts of AA?
Note: If an alcohol addict simply wants to stop, he is way better off and has a far better chance if he does not go to AA ever. These are undisputable facts stated by every one of the most noteworthy studies and research.
Time to grow up face these facts and quit lying and bragging about the attributes of this disgusting cult called AA…
Thank you for taking the time to stop by the blog. You know, the saying “God helps those who help themselves” is not in the Bible–it might be from Benjamin Franklin. I am not saying there are not people who do not get sober while in A.A.–but for those who follow another “god” there is an eternal hell waiting. I do not say this to sound harsh or “religious” but to warn you.
Nor can he be called on by any name, as you state: I am the LORD, that is My name;I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8)
Jesus tells us, “I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6)
Even though Jesus is my higher power, I have been in 12 step based recovery for over 10 years. I can say it works. The reason? Because as an addict, I thought I was driving the bus. Reality hits, and an addict realizes they are helpless without God, Higher Power…ect
God helps those who help themselves, He can be called any name. But, only God can heal, He heals everyone regardless of thier creed or religion. I have seen it, I have experienced it. The 12 steps is based on getting closer to God, for SINNERS (all of us) to get closer to Him. My Higher Power is Jesus, but He heals everyone who asks for help. Whether they use Higher Power, God, Jesus……whatever name. He heals all!
