Here is The Message, Psalm 32:1: Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be–you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean.
Here is NASB, Psalm 32:1: How blessed is he whose transgression if forgiven, Whose sin is covered!
Here is The Message, Psalm 1:1: How well God must like you–you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.
Here is NASB, Psalm 1:1: How blessed is the man who does not walk in the way of the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers. (Psalm 1:1)
The fact is, there are numerous places in The Message where something has been changed, added, or deleted.
“I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30, NASB)
“I and the Father are one heart and mind.” (John 10:30, The Message)
Always, always, always, the strategy has been to change, twist, or misuse the very Word of God.
The devil even tried this with Christ Himself. (Matthew 4, Luke 4)
My friend, The Message is not for you. Not as a “study” paraphrase, not as a “reading Bible,” not at all.
Did You Know: The Message “bible” inserts earth reverence, god of “green” hope: http://mywordlikefire.com/2011/05/30/the-message-bible-inserts-earth-reverence-god-of-green-hope/
