Bethel Redding youth leader says Jesus asked him for forgiveness!

Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. (Jude 1:3)

One more in a long train wreck of false claims and teachings from Bethel Redding. This youth leader states that in a vision Jesus picked him up, began to weep, and asked his forgiveness.

If you can’t find a passage in the Bible where Christ asks us to forgive Him, it is because it is not in the Bible.

What about the people who heard the youth leader claim this from the pulpit? Who will help them? Other Bethel leaders?

Not likely.

Some in the visible church will take a false vision over the Truth of the Bible every time.

According to the Bible:
“Did you not see a false vision and speak a lying divination when you said, ‘The LORD declares,’ but it is not I who have spoken?”
.
Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, “Because you have spoken falsehood and seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 13:7-8)

  1. Had he not added he had a vision and just used the idea that because Christ became sin for us and took our penalty that when we refuse to forgive others we are in a sense blaming him was rather insightful. The vison aspect is what makes this unacceptable. Lies mixed with truth is still lies.

  2. This is indicative of the great lack of discernment & the lack of courage in people to stand up to this…to stand against it! I wonder how many people in the audience disagreed or agreed w/ him. I wonder if anyone approached him, esp. the leadership. But the leadership is also deceived so what can we expect?! We are sunk without discernment & without knowing what the word of God says! Obviously, these people are under a delusion b/c they do not have a LOVE of the TRUTH!

  3. Hi Anonymous,
There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of correction going on at Bethel. Something like this should be addressed publically by leadership, I agree with you.
Whether from fleshly imagination or demonically inspired, it is an offense to the Lord:

And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the word of the LORD!’” Thus says the Lord GOD: “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! (Ezekiel 13:13)

  4. I don’t believe he heard Jesus ask him to forgive Him. I think it could have been a flesh thing and he thought he was hearing from God. I don’t think every time people make a “mistake” that it is on the same level as a lying divination although it is false. What is the source of the false vision? If it is flesh, then he simply needs to be corrected by leaders. That is the gist of what I get from listening to him explain it in the video. If leaders don’t do that, then I would definitely question them as being heretical. One would think that if a youth leader in your church says something this serious that you would follow up publicly to correct the statement or teaching. Does such exist or did we bother to look? Are the leaders aware that this public video exists because if not, then they didn’t think it was necessary to make a public video correcting the teaching.

  5. Holding onto hurt is called selfishness and pride.

  6. My friend, find me one place in the Bible–just ONE!–where the Lord asks us to forgive Him. This is so heretical. It is a false vision, which the Lord hates.

“Did you not see a false vision and speak a lying divination when you said, ‘The LORD declares,’ but it is not I who have spoken?”

Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, “Because you have spoken falsehood and seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 13:7-8)

It is horrifying that this man is a children’ pastor.

  7. Taking that phrase out of context of what he says does sound bizarre – but listening to it in context of his story, Jesus was simply making a point – of how wrong it is to hold resentment against a fellow Christian, because it is the same as holding resentment against Jesus.

  9. These poor people. Just sitting there watching him, hearing him say that, as if this is biblical.
